Argentina sees soya bean export boom in 2013/14

Amid port strikes, high inflation, currency devaluation, and unpredictable weather, Argentina is struggling to hold on to its position as number one shipper of soya bean oil and the third-biggest exporter of unprocessed beans. Producers have brought to market the volumes expected by international buyers but they are facing serious problems as a result of increased production costs and undervalued prices due to exchange rate appreciation, said Guillermo Rossi, economic analyst of the Rosario Stock Exchange, which represents the interest of trade and production of the region.
