Total deal is key to Chinese yard's offshore future

Nantong Sinopaciflc Offshore Engineering (SOE) believes it has taken a step closer to joining the world's major builders of offshore vessels after oil major Total selected the yard as its sole subcontractor in China and awarded a first order. In February, the yard made it public that it had won orders for two offshore modules subcontracted by Total. The modules will be installed on a floating production unit (FPU) being built in South Korea by Hyundai HI (HHI).
