Singapore's status as the shipping hub of the East continues on a steady path, despite growing cost pressures. Over the past two years, IHS Maritime has examined the city-state's hold on this crown and, on each occasion, Singapore shipping companies said the maritime cluster's strength justified their continued presence. Maritime Singapore's growth in 2013 mirrored that of 2012, with more companies setting up shop in the city-state. Its maritime cluster is now home to about 130 international shipping groups and 5,000 other maritime service providers.
