Nortel teams with IBM and others for IMS & SIP based apps

Nortel has teamed up with IBM and a number of other companies to offer service providers in the mobile, fixed line and cable markets technology based on the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) that, it is claimed will enable the rapid creation and delivery of new converged network applications. Initially applications for Nortel's Converged Multimedia Services (CMS) solution will be provided by 180 developer partners, but IBM and Nortel intend to provide an open application gateway and foster a large community of independent application developers.
