摘要

Every city has them: areas that lie derelict for years until someone works out what to do with them. And the economic crisis has only added to the phenomenon. Now the town of Arnhem in the Netherlands has come up with a new solution: 'travelling gardens'. A few of these gardens have sprung up here and there over the last few years. As soon as a plot is due to be built on, the garden moves to another patch of wasteland. With help from local residents, these spaces are temporarily designated green areas, the idea being that they improve quality of life in the neighbourhood.
