Aquifer-Sedimentology Symposium

摘要

Many geoscientists believe that in the next century water will become an even costly natural resource as oil. The scarcity of clean drinking water in many parts of the world call for concentrated research efforts to better understand groundwater aquifers and for more rigorous measures to better protect our groundwater reservoirs. Ever-increasing environmental problems require specifically a better integration of sedimentological information into hydrogeological models. The aim of this Symposium was to bring together sedimentologists and hydro-geologists working on the genesis, characterisation and remediation of groundwater aquifers. Protection and remediation of polluted aquifers require integrated studies on geological, hydraulic or hydrogeoche-mical properties and models ranging in scale from local to basin-wide aquifer system analysis.
