U.S. agencies neglect climate change

Climate change has implications for the vast land and water resources managed by the U.S. government. Yet officials in all of the resource-related agencies have no idea whether or how they should take action, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). In a new report (GAO-07-863), the investigative arm of Congress urges agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service to cooperate with each other and to send clear written communication to land managers on how to gather necessary information on and effectively address climate-induced changes.
