Lots of books have recently appeared on Darwin, on his theory of evolution and on its reconstructions, such as sociobiology and evolutionary psychology. But rarely do these contributions shed light on environmental ethics and politics in a systematic manner. The political philosopher Brian Baxter has set himself a timely task of filling this gap in the literature. In A Darwinian Worldview he explores a contemporary construction of Darwin's ideas in the work of the prominent biologist E.O. Wilson. Both Wilson and Darwin are highly controversial figures for many philosophers and political scientists, and Baxter's aim is to defend a reasonable and positive understanding of them.
