Riparian Zone Management in the Pacific Northwest: Who's Cutting What?

In the Pacific Northwest (PNW) of North America, forestry practices during the last century have de- Graded the ecological linkages between riparian forests and Streams. In an attempt to protect the integrity of lotic ecosys- Tems and associated fisheries resources (primarly anadro- Mous Pacific salmon, Oncorhynchus sp.), regional govern- Ments now restrict timber harvest in riparian forests.
