Themes in Environmental History: Indigenous Knowledge

This critical global analysis of the articulation and framing of indigenous knowledge fits squarely within a larger body of political ecology literature concerned with indigeneity in contexts of contested resource governance and environmental change. Johnson's edited volume specifically examines the context-specific identification and strategic application by both "insiders" (indigenous people themselves-with due attention to differentiation within a community) and "outsiders" (Europeans) of what comes to be identified as indigenous knowledge.
