Sustainable Economic Development in the Face of Climate Change in Latin America: A Path Forward

In 1992, FORO Nacional Internacional was founded as ancenter for integrative and applied research on democraticngovernance, development strategies, and capacity building. Fornthe last 20 years, FORO has worked to identify future developmentnchallenges and opportunities for Latin America. As anpart of this effort, in 2012, FORO organized aworkshop, FuturenChallenges for Latin American Development. The workshopnwas held fromJune 4 through June 6 in Lima, Peru, and broughtntogether a small group of experts to help define the challengesnand opportunities in the areas of democratic governance, fi-nnancing for development, knowledge and innovation, andnsustainable development that face Latin America today. Anversion of this essay was read as part of the FORO workshop.
