Council and European Parliament representatives are getting close to smashing the deadlock that has blocked a deal over the proposed batteries directive following the latest trialogue talks, which also included European Commission officials, on 22 March. Although the three bodies still have common ground to find on two major issues - battery removability and collection targets - sources close to the talks reveal that a compromise is close. Agreement is likely at the next trialogue meeting on either 18-19 or 25-26 April. "We're getting close to a deal," one insider told us.
