"Recycling and recovery of packaging in Finland is a good European average: we are neither placed at the top of recyclers, nor at the bottom," according to Annukka Leppanen-Turkula, managing director of Finnish green dot scheme PYR tiedottaa, following the submission of Finland's packaging data for 2005 to the European Commission (see below).rnFinland differs from other countries in that it also submits reuse tables. For 2005 it reused 71 per cent, as for 2004 and 2003 of packaging put on the market; including a 90 per cent rate for glass and 72 per cent for plastics. Finland defines reuse as using packaging again for its original purpose after cleaning operations (e.g. refilling of beverage bottles).
