Member States Oppose Ccs Proposal

The European proposal to spend €11 million on testing how to store greenhouse gas emissions underground is under threat as at least three countries objected to the proposal this week. The plan to fund 12 demonstration plants to capture CO2 emissions from power plants and store it underground to counter global warming has the support of DG Energy in the European Commission and won approval last month in the European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee. Since then, however, Denmark, Germany and Spain have spoken out against the project.
