REACH Regulation amended for 'no longer polymers'

Member states have agreed to amend the REACH (registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals) Regulation in order to rectify a provision designed to provide "phase-in" status to a special category of substances known as "no-longer polymers". At a recent meeting of the Council working party on technical harmonisation of dangerous substances, member state representatives agreed that REACH Article 3 (20)c was not "explicit" enough and would not give legal protection to firms wanting to claim phase-in status for a special category of substances, the so-called "no longer polymers".
