The European Commission has revealed new proposals to dramatically cut harmful emissions from trucks, buses and other heavy duty vehicles in a bid to improve air quality in the region. The new "Euro VI" standards, tabled by the Commission on 21 December, aim to reduce nitrogen oxide (NO_x) output by 80 per cent and particulates (PM) by 66 per cent compared to the limits of Euro V, which are set to enter into force from 2008.
