All set for Copenhagen

The United Nations' international climate conference, after its massive build up, finally starts next week - with hopes pinned on reaching a comprehensive agreement to cut climate change emissions.rnProspects are less bleak than a few weeks ago. Notably United States President Barack Obama has now decided to attend at least part of the proceedings and has offered a commitment to reduce greenhouse gases in the range of 17 per cent below 2005 levels by 2020. China has also now pledged to cut carbon emissions 40 to 45 per cent by 2020, compared to 2005 levels.
