The future auctioning of emission allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) has been placed in public hands, after the European Commission launched an open consultation on the matter this month.rnThe consultation focuses on the rules governing the directive and was agreed as part of the EU climate and energy package in December last year.
