Stricter rules for Germany's small combustion plants

Germany is to amend its Emission Control Act to reduce the fine particulate pollution from small combustion plants, according to a notification sent to the European Commission on 5 May.rnAccording to the draft text, which is on standstill for a three-month period for comments or objections until 6 August, there has been a significant increase in recent years in fine particulate levels in the atmosphere due to the increase in solid fuels, particularly wood. Yet, the current law on small and medium-sized combustion plants "does not sufficiently take into account combustion plants for solid fuels."
