Lowering the VAT on recycled products across the EU would help support and safeguard recycling markets, according to the Czech presidency.rnAt a time when the market for recycled materials has collapsed due to the global economic crisis, the Czech government wants to stabilise, expand and improve waste sorting systems in the EU. The presidency therefore tabled a number of concrete proposals during a meeting of European Waste Directors in Prague on 16 February. The results of the meeting's discussions will serve as the basis for negotiations at the Environment Council on 2 March.
