EU plastic bag ban not out of the question,says Poto Cnik

An EU-wide plastic bag ban is not out of the question, European Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik confirmed earlier this month, after receiving questions from two MEPs. Potocnik, answering questions from Belgian Socialist Kathleen Van Brempt and the UK Independence Party's John Stuart Agnew on 5 July did not, however, elaborate much further on what this "initiative" on plastic bags could look like. He said that the Commission was drafting a comprehensive green paper on how to stop plastic waste damaging the environment and that this paper "should help find a strategic response to the environmentally responsible and resource efficient use of plastic including its end of life phase."
