An independent biotech research institute has challenged a decision by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to grant the first approval for the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) soya in the EU.A legal document commissioned by Germany's Testbiotech alleged the authorisation as planned violated existing law because residues remaining in the plants from spraying were not taken into account during the risk assessment.
