House Agriculture Committee Members Offer Bill to Redirect Bay Recovery Efforts

Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Tim Holden (D-Pa.) introduced legislation March 7 to replace many of the Obama administration's Chesapeake Bay restoration mandates with state-led programs.The legislation (H.R. 4153) is designed to "rein in the unchecked power that the Environmental Protection Agency has usurped from the Bay area states," according Goodlatte's announcement of the bill. Goodlatte is vice chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy, and Forestry. Holden is the panel's ranking member.
