United Nations Commission Formed At 1992 Earth Summit Holds Final Session

The UN Commission on Sustainable Development, an intergovernmental consultative and advisory body established at the 1992 Earth Summit, held its final session Sept. 20 at UN headquarters in New York City. The commission, set up to oversee a global diplomatic agenda for promoting economic development and environmental protection, will give way to the inaugural session of a UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development to be held Sept. 24 in conjunction with the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
