Obama Administration Awards $210 Million To Companies for Military Biofuel Refineries

The Obama administration announced Sept. 19 the award of $210 million to three companies to construct refineries for ready-to-use biofuels for the military and the private sector. The companies-Emerald Biofuels, Fulcrum BioEn-ergy and Red Rock Biofuels-each received $70 million for projects that will be capable of producing a total of more than 100 million gallons annually of biofuel beginning in 2016 and 2017, the Energy Department, Agriculture Department and the Navy said in a joint announcement.
