New EMS rules explained

ISO 14001, originally published in 1996, has been revised and ISO 14001:2004 was published on 15 November 2004. In May 2006, 18 months after publication, all certificates issued to ISO 14001:1996 will no longer be valid. This article gives an overview of the changes within the standard and of what organisations need to know to implement these changes. It outlines the transition process for certification to the revised standard and gives information on guidance and training available.
