Tube Lines, the company responsible for maintaining part of the London Underground system, is installing a rainwater harvest system to reduce its reliance on mains water to clean 86 Piccadilly Line trains.rnIt is part of the company's drive to reduce impacts, and lead the way in the sustainable use of natural resources on the network.rnThe company says by using rainwater to clean the trains it can reduce its CO_2 emissions by up to one tonne a year - the equivalent of a train travelling, end-to-end, on the 73km Piccadilly Line 230 times.rnIn the summer of 2006, restrictions on water use at the firm's Morden depot were imposed, affecting the cleanliness of some of the trains.
