Nuclear must be a part of our future energy mix

Increasing oil prices. A weakening pound. Massive borrowing by the public purse. One could be forgiven for thinking we had stepped back into the 1970s. Back then, Labour MPs objected strongly to the notion that nuclear power would play a socio-economic role. What has changed, of course, is that today's Labour government can't get enough of it. Last month's Energy Bill delighted power companies. They are now being invited to speed up their plans to build nuclear power stations in the UK, as part of what the government sees as a "secure, diverse, low-carbon energy mix".
