FTSE 100 companies must do better

The UK's biggest companies are dragging their feet when it comes to cutting greenhouse gas emissions - and the targets they have set themselves to reduce their footprints fall well short of government ambitions.rnAnalysis by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) shows that the average rate of carbon reduction among the FTSE 100 companies is 2.5% - marginally ahead of the 2.4% rate required if the UK is to meet its legally-binding target of cutting emissions by between 34% and 42% by 2020, as set out in the 2008 Climate Change Act.
