Foucault on politics, security and war

Foucault on Politics, Security and War contains eight chapters covering an array of concerns on security, life and death, race, and war. If Michel Foucault's decision in 1976 to "bring to a close" (2003, pages 3-4) the research he had been doing since his arrival at the College de France on psychiatry, the penal system, and sexuality was born of a frustration that he was not getting anywhere, it also allowed him to open up new avenues that would prove to be very fruitful. Some of these, which are often called biopolitics or governmentality (though the relation of these two terms is not necessarily synonymous, and the break with previous work is not complete), are the subject of this challenging collection.
