摘要

Michigan lawmakers are urging EPA to prioritize funding and other resources to ensure a protective sediment cleanup of the Kalamazoo River Superfund site - one of the biggest contributors of poly chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) to Lake Michigan - after the Justice Department (DOJ) rejected their concerns and moved forward with what the lawmakers say is an "inadequate" bankruptcy settlement with Lyondell Chemical Company, a liable party at the site.rn"Despite [the April 23] ruling that allows Lyondell to only pay pennies on the dollar of the overall cleanup costs, the Kalamazoo River cleanup must remain a top priority for the EPA," Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) said in an April 28 statement.
