Disparities In Agencies' GHG Reviews Spur Call For NEPA Guide's Release

A comprehensive new analysis of federal agencies' National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews of potential adverse environmental impacts of federal actions finds major disparities in how agencies consider greenhouse gas (GHG) impacts, spurring fresh calls for the White House to finalize a stalled draft guidance on the issue. The analysis released last month by Columbia University's Center for Climate Change Law notes the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) has yet to finalize its 2010 draft guidance. The Center suggests that while the draft guidance does not go as far as necessary, it would better promote consistency of climate considerations among federal agencies.
