IG Faults Lack Of EPA Transparency In Implementing Trump's '2-for-1' EO

EPA's Office of Inspector General (OIG) is faulting the agency's lack of transparency when implementing President Donald Trump's "two-for-one" executive order (EO 13711) intended to cut regulations and reduce compliance costs for regulated industry. The OIG in an Aug. 9 report notes that EPA officials far exceeded the deregulatory goals the White House set in fiscal years 2017-2018 in EO 13771, which Trump issued in January 2017. The directive generally requires agencies to identify two rules for repeal for every new rule that is issued, and to reduce net regulatory costs.
