Standards Australia has introduced a new business model for its operations. Started on 1 October, the model incorporates a number of features that will impact on the development of standards in Australia. In this interview with Dietrich Georg, the organisation's chief executive John Tucker explains the changes.rnDG: John Tucker, thank you for agreeing to this interview. What were the reasons for introducing the new business model? What didn't work in the old system?rnJT: The need for change goes back five years when Standards Australia (SA) separated from SAI Global and sold out of the business of conformity assessment and standards publishing. We took that opportunity to review the whole business. One of the issues was that as the Australian representative on international standards bodies we wanted to become the strongest possible player on the international stage.
