First of Super Hornets delivered

From its Integrated Defense Systems' production facilities in St Louis, Missouri, Boeing delivered the first of 24 F/A-18 Super Hornets to Australia in July, three months ahead of schedule.rnThe aircraft will provide a stop gap until either the F-35 JSF or the F-22 aircraft is selected. The total value of the contract to Boeing is about S3 billion. The remaining 23 Super Hornets, each equipped with the Raytheon-built APG-79 Active Electronically ScannedrnArray (AESA) radar, will be delivered to the RAAF throughout 2010 and 2011.
