Focus on humanitarian engineering

Prof Doug Hargreaves has presided over a year dominated by the ballot to change our Royal Charter and By-laws. I am told very few organisations achieve these types of fundamental changes without pain. Doug has experienced that pain, but has led the process with integrity, intelligence, commitment and honesty.rnBeyond the ballot, he has also delivered the Year of Engineering Leadership and shown what engineering leadership is about by engaging us and the community in the engineers role in and responsibility for managing population growth. I congratulate Doug on his year and thank him for his leadership.
