Comment invited for review of Code of Ethics

The global financial crisis has highlighted the importance of business ethics and, in the reverse, the impacts that unethical practice can have. With all professions today, there is a heightened expectation in the community that ethical practice will be paramount. As engineers, we have long recognised this and undertaken to practice in an ethical manner. From its inception in 1919, the Bye-Laws of Engineers Australia have given it the power to codify ethical standards to be met by members (ie to produce a Code of Ethics) and to enact disciplinary regulations to deal with allegations of breach of the code.
