New broadband to Alice Springs

Internet service provider Internode has begun offering Alice Springs customers access to ADSL2+ internet broadband, installing its own DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) equipment in the Alice Springs telephone exchange.The service was made possible by new communications infrastructure deployed by Nextgen Networks in theAlice area. The new Nextgen fibre-optic cable connects Alice Springs with Tarcoola in SA, where it interconnects with a major fibre-optic cable between Adelaide and Perth.
