Western Sydney council explores light rail option

Alight rail network for Sydney's western suburbs was proposed by the Parramatta City Council at the Parramatta Economic Development Forum held in Sydney in May. Parramatta lord mayor Lorraine Wearne said the successful tender for a feasibility study will be announced next month. Although transport issues are usually the responsibility of the state and federal governments, on this occasion, Parramatta City Council decided to spend $1 million of its own money on the project.
