Engineers 'in pole position'

Engineers are "in pole position" to lead Australia in planning for and meeting the country's transport and urban development needs, according to Tim Fischer, former deputy prime minister and recently returned ambassador to the Holy See in Rome. In his plenary speech at the Engineering Leadership Conference he proposed three principles for the development of policies for transport and urban infrastructure, stressing that engineers must play a major role in all of them.
