Infrastructure an election issue

Government spending on infrastructure appears to be currently viewed as something that there just is not the money to do. So why is government spending on infrastructure not on the agenda, when quite simply infrastructure is at the heart of the quality of life experienced by all Australians? In 2010, Engineers Australia undertook the Infrastructure Report Card for each of the states and territories - the results of this showed that infrastructure around Australia was at the level shown in the table below.
