Plans for a new $46 million irrigation scheme at Scottsdale in Tasmania's northeast have been announced by the state government. The Scottsdale Irrigation Scheme's preferred option would provide water to an irrigable area of 17,366ha. A $1.3 billion contract for developing the Kings iron ore deposit at the Solomon Hub in the Pilbara has been awarded by Fortescue to Leighton Contractors. This contract will combine with the $1.5 billion contract for the Firetail deposit in the Solomon Hub that Fortescue awarded to Leighton in 2012.
