NEW KIDS HOSPITAL

The new Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) is approaching completion and is set to open in the first half of next year. The current children's hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital in Subiaco, was built in 1909 and the Western Australian Government announced it would invest $1.2 billion into a new publicly-owned facility in Nedlands opposite Kings Park. The project is being designed and built by John Holland and includes a number of innovative design elements, including a double-skinned facade (DSF) to filter the sun's rays, cooling the building and contributing to energy efficiency.
