We're living now in the smart age with smart phones, smart televisions, smart cars even. Smart technologies are changing the way we work, from collaborative robots to 3D printing, biomedical engineering, fuel cell vehicles and drones. The people who work at the coalface of these projects talk about how exciting it is. Dr Marc Carmichael, a robotics expert from the University of Technology Sydney, says there is a sense that we're at a tipping point where the promise of robotics seen in the lab is making it into industry.
