In the first-ever demolition of a steel-framed dome, strategically placed explosives brought down Indianapolis' Market Square Arena in 15 seconds, quickly putting to rest fears that the controlled blast would harm surrounding structures. The July 8 implosion broke a handful of windows in neighboring buildings, but otherwise avoided damage to adjacent properties and a road running through the arena.
