California-utah The California Dept. of Transportation awarded a $43-million contract to Granite Construction Co. for reconstruction of five miles of Interstate 80 through the Truc-kee River Canyon, 20 miles west of Reno,rnNev. The project includes 80,000 cu yd of concrete-paving removal and replacement, as well as drainage improvements, barrier rails and asphalt paving from Floriston to the California-Nevada state line. Construction is anticipated to start in May, with an estimated completion date of September 2011.
