Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas is planning to build a wind turbine manufacturing plant at Fort Smith. The 200,000-sq-ft plant will be located on a 100-acre site. The project is expected to break ground this fall, produce its first turbines next year and reach full production in 2012. It will produce nacelles, the turbine's key component, consisting of a generator, gearbox, rotor, control system and electrical equipment.
