With the housing market apparently close to bottoming out (see p. 23), gypsum wallboard prices are starting to stir. ENR's 20-city average price for 1/2-In. wallboard bounced back 1.1% this month, but prices remain 7.8% below April 2009's level. The Bureau of Labor Statistics' producer price index for gypsum building products started 2010 10.7% below January 2009's level.rnPlywood prices also have made some modest gains. ENR's 20-city average plywood price rose 2% in April and is just 1.7% below a year ago. Last January's PPI for plywood was 1.3% below 2009's level.
