The year I was born, "Ashley" was the most popular name in the U.S. In the first grade, I removed the letter "e" from my first name. While some might consider that an act of rebellion, I believe it was an early sign of needing to take charge once I realized there was a better way. Having to write both my first and last name to avoid being confused with other Ashleys was inefficient, and omitting the useless vowel was the perfect solution. As it turns out, acting to improve processes, building consensus and seeing things through have defined my career.
