摘要

Teravista is a 1,550-acre, master-planned community located north of Austin, Texas. The development was experiencing pavement cracking and differential settlement of its roads and streets, even after trying the conventional methods of mechanical and chemical soil stabilization, including geogrid reinforcement and lime treatment. The shrinking and swelling movements in the subgrade soils, driven by fluctuations in soil moisture content, were not successfully counteracted by the 15-in. aggregate base courses layers reinforced with geogrid products.
